Last weekend, I attended a Kirtan, lecture, and a workshop given by author, spiritual teacher, mystic, and gifted musician Russill Paul. Thoroughly illuminating and enjoyable! His East meets West teachings come at a time when humanity needs them the most. Russill was a monk and yogi under the direction of renowned sage and mystic, Bede Griffith, in South India for many years. I was able to experience his work on sonic mysticism and immerse myself into The Yoga of Sound for the weekend. This workshop was rare opportunity and helped me more deeply understand and refine my own spiritual practice. No matter your wisdom tradition, it is highly recommended! Please read his book Jesus and the Lotus or attend one of his many presentations on Christian prayer, interspirituality, unity, and eastern mysticism. You'll be able to tune into the authentic sounds of chanting, mantra recitation, and enjoy a special connection to the Divine Presence within. Thank you Russill, for sharing your wonderful gifts. Birthday Joy and Optimism

Last week, I turned fifty and loved every minute of it. There’s nothing like entering the half-century club especially when you know the sun is at its highest point in your birth chart. Because the sun returns to the place it occupied at your birth, astrologers say it is a glorious, feel-good day (mine made extraordinary with best friends and too much cake.) Many positive vibes come along for the ride on your birthday. It’s the start of your own personal new year where we can direct positive change because we naturally have energy. We feel the most productive around the months surrounding our birthday, and for the meticulous, practical, and diligent Virgo it is good news all around – we can reset our meter and put our lives back in order as long as we are tuned into self-love and awareness. Birthday energy is a huge blast of confidence. It helps with changing our minds, especially with better ideas regarding our own health and where to draw personal boundaries. We can mentally and emotionally straighten up and fly right. Our personal lunacy, like stopping self-criticism and worry, can be dropped in favor of a new direction taken at work and home. For Virgos, this endeavor usually revolves around efficiency (I humbly admit to my innate compulsive-neatness disorder) and can finally laugh with an open heart as I rearrange my desktop for the 10th time in a week. For women, the difference between pre- and post-fifty is poise. We spent our twenties wondering who we were; the thirties were about laying a foundation for our choices, everything from having children to careers. Our forties? Most likely, our kids again took center stage and we squeezed out time for classes, additional degrees, building wealth, and learning about what makes the opposite sex tick (hopefully I got that one right, having lived with three men all these years – my husband and two sons.) We gave birth, saw death, fell in and out of love with people, music, money, organizations, political parties, and food. We steered through countless mercury retrogrades and stopped feeling compelled to check the horoscopes because we knew those were times to let change set the tone. Trying to comb your hair during a wind storm just doesn’t work – and the phrase “this too shall pass” became our mantra of quiet confidence in God and the stability of the universe. Turning fifty has nothing to do with age and everything about blooming. We rock on in our fifties because we are empowered by so much life experience, a jubilant place to dwell. No longer bothered with where to exhibit our artwork, we just do. No matter who shows up, it is one more person inspired and uplifted. On all fronts, the older we get, the bolder we get, from fashion to parenting young adults, and we quit wondering about panty lines, waiting in line, or lining up with the status quo. We bloom where we are planted! In this growing season, I will continue my research and writing about the Oneness teachings from India and Christ Consciousness. Blessing and a Movie: A Night of Insight and Awakening!
This past Monday evening over 195 people joined Charlene at the Emagine Theatre in Novi, Michigan to attend a special event called "Blessing and a Movie!". Everyone gathered to view this fantastic new docu-drama from Debbie Ford, The Shadow Effect.
Charlene gave an inspiring introduction prior to the film. After viewing the film, we shared stories of growth and personal development. Charlene gave a brief, guided meditation and people stayed to experience the Oneness Blessing after a heartfelt discussion. Charlene was joined by fellow Ann Arbor Blessing Giver Jack Pyle, to offer the Blessing to each person. For many, it was their first experience and an introduction to the Oneness teachings that Charlene incorporates into her books and everyday work for humanity.
During the time of the event (7 to 10 p.m. EST) all attendees, Charlene, and Jack, were joined in prayer by several Dasas from India and Fiji, and Oneness Youth Program Founder Catherine Scherwenka.The Grace coming into the auditorium was felt by everyone and we believe a great deal of healing was experienced that evening.

Bless and Be Blessed! Learn more about the Oneness Experience Course
For two days, blessings givers from across the state, along with a wide variety of spiritual seekers from Michigan and Wisconsin, raised consciousness by meditating and discussing personal growth issues while receiving the Oneness Blessing. New attendees released old emotional patterns that held them behind and began to experience self-expansion.
Understanding Oneness within oneself, in each other, with nature, and with God (or your Divine Source, in any wisdom tradition), is about returning all of life to a much higher order. When we see our God-Self in each other and live from a higher level of self-awareness, our individual journeys have more meaning. We move beyond merely existing to interacting with all of humanity and with Spirit. Life then becomes a robust and amazing experience!

This interactive program includes yoga and meditation exercises given by a live facilitator too. I remember Lee showing up for meditation class and we worked on our breath awareness, developing present moment awareness, and forgiveness. After she had received the Blessing, she became more interested in personal growth and she attended the Oneness University Level One Fiji Programwith the Dasas. She went to Fiji and had a life-changing, empowered experience. She is now on her way to becoming a Level Two Blessing Giver and leads a life of conscious awareness and inner peace. I know this because I can see it in her beautiful face.
In her own work, I know Lee will help to inspire and teach others to live more completely from the heart, as it is one thing we all learn at the Oneness programs. The Dasas always encourage us to love others deeply and wrap our minds around what that really means. We can only give what we are, so we must first become it, an important Oneness teaching. When we embody love (not just casually tossing out a “Love Ya” but actually become the idea of love) and fully express it from every pore of our being, we are more capable of being a conduit for goodness and Grace. We can change the world!
All of us can learn to love wastefully, as John Shelby Spong said when speaking of the life of Master Jesus, because by loving ourselves completely, we have an abundance of love, so much that we are over-flowing with it. There is plenty for everyone and it spills over to permeate every corner of our lives – to our children, partners, the environment, our workplace, and even the guy who rang up your purchase at the hardware store. By watching many people participate in Oneness Programs, and also having been there myself, I can honestly say this is the greatest gift of these teachings.
Give a “Self” gift today and treat yourself to some introspection and self-reflection. You life will be so enriched! By generating more love, and as Grace becomes inextricably intertwined in your life, your relationships will become more authentic. You will witness many other unexpected changes, and I guarantee you will expand personally and spiritually from all avenues.
